Act Locally

Act LocallyDo you get a charge out of quick online activism but wish there was even more you could do to push important campaigns to victory? Do you get inspired by collaborating with thousands of New Dreamers across the country but sometimes yearn to see positive change right in your home community?

If you said ‘yes’ to either question, then you’ve come to the right place! We’ll connect you to opportunities to build upon your virtual activism so you can make an even bigger impact. Our toolboxes will walk you through the steps of making a difference locally.

To plug into a specific campaign, check out a grassroots toolbox and download all the resources you need to get started. To match up your personal strengths and interests with the most powerful ways to make a difference locally, consider these four ways to get involved:

Advocate – talk to your friends about what really matters, share New American Dream’s publications with your community, use our fact sheets and talking points to write letters to the editor and influence business leaders and policymakers.

Give/Get Advice - post local resources on the Action Forum, share tips and experiences with your neighbors, and tap into their expertise to solve that challenge you’ve been wrestling with for months.

Donate – contribute toward the financial costs associated with coordinating this website and New American Dream’s advocacy efforts.

Organize - host a house party, organize a local Back to School campaign or a Junk Mail lobbying day, help us develop and hone New American Dream’s new tools and resources.

Whether you’re a student activist who pedals across the country promoting energy security or a busy parent struggling to buy green and positively influence your kids’ future, your participation is vital to the New Dream Community. You make a positive difference through your personal steps. You have an impact with your advocacy efforts. You give New American Dream the political muscle to achieve systemic change.

We appreciate these contributions and try to make it as easy as possible for you to contribute powerfully. Please let us know how we’re doing and how we can do better.
