Dance. Play. Run through the sprinkler.
At New Dream, we work to promote a healthy environment and a just society. But when we say “more of what matters,” we also mean a high quality of life for everyone, including you. You need the space to do the things that give you real joy in life. An often heard mantra around here is “More fun, less stuff!”
Conserving resources? Buying fair trade? What’s the fun in that, you say? Hey, we wouldn’t ask you to part with that vintage bobblehead Desi Arnez doll you found online. But today’s highly commercialized culture bombards us with messages that fun is only about the stuff we own—or don’t own yet but should. Many have found, however, that happiness and contentment don’t come prepackaged. Serious fun is often homemade, and rediscovering the joy in life doesn’t have to cost us a fortune.
From our “Good Times Made Simple” handbook to our advice on simplifying the holidays, New Dream offers tips and tools that help you refocus on the truly fun things that matter to you. So while you are saving the planet and respecting the rights of workers around the globe, don’t forget to have a little fun along the way. Just turn off the sprinkler when you’re done.
Want More?
New American Dream is promoting our message of hope through a new series of posters, postcards, and ads that illustrate how living consciously, buying wisely, and making a difference isn’t about having less, but of cultivating more of the things that matter: more nature, more time, more fun, and more fairness, to name a few. Now we need your help spreading the word.
Print our “More Fun” poster and hang it at your favorite hangout, like the local coffee shop, bookstore, or co-op.
