Cleaning Projects: Bedroom

Bedroom CleaningTime to spend: 1 hour
Use cold water to wash clothes -- not hot water. Add two cups of white vinegar to the washer to make fabric softer, and baking soda to remove odors.

Do the windows, walls, and lights. Use an eraser pad to take any scuffs and stains off the walls.

Hit the closets. Why? Because dirt and dust are in there and will eventually find their way out. “Dust is microscopic and can aggravate allergies and asthma,” says Sarah Smock of the Memphis-based cleaning service Merry Maids. “Just because you can’t see it doesn’t mean it can’t do some harm.”. Empty out the entire closet -- and ask yourself whether you really need that sweater you haven't worn in two years. You'll be able to minimize your storable items dramatically. After paring down, consider having a yard sale. Prioritize. Keep items you use daily in the most accessible storage areas.

Wash your sheets. If it is warm enough dry them out on clothes rack rather than a dryer to save energy.
