Save the Date: October 24th = 350
It's not too early to begin planning what you'll be doing at the end of October. No, not your Halloween costume (though there are greener ways to do that, too). This October 24 is a unique opportunity to come together with all the other world citizens who are concerned about climate change. 350.org is challenging you to jump on the bandwagon now. Read the invitation or register an event--bike rides, rallies, concerts, hikes, festivals, tree-plantings, protests, and more. The idea is to reinforce the importance of the number 350 to continued life on this planet. We need to cut the amount of carbon in the atmosphere from its current 387 parts per million to 350 or less if we wish to continue living in human-friendly conditions on the earth. The significance of October 24 is that it comes six weeks before the crucial Copenhagen UN meetings where world leaders will craft a new global treaty on cutting carbon emissions. If everyone makes their voice heard, every nation will know the central question that must be answered: will this get the planet back on the path to 350? See the video below from 350.org and learn more about the science behind 350.
