Little Food and Prep Changes Add Up

I'm preparing for my Eat Clean Diet trial and have already started phasing a few things out of my diet and adding some others in.  Out goes soda, most candy, potato chips, and the little Bob Evan's sausuage biscuits that I adore.  In comes more veggies, water, and dried fruit and nuts.

Making my breakfast this morning (which is more or less Eat Clean sanctioned), I noticed how different it was from what I regularly ate.  Instead of scarfing down a sausage and cheese sandwich and gulping down some orange juice, I blended up a banana, some protein powder, rice milk, a little oatmeal, some greek yogurt, and a squeeze of organic chocolate syrup (guess which one I wasn't supposed to add) and sipped that on my way out the door.

It's easy for me to pinpoint exactly what is going to benefit me from the smoothie.  However, the morning breakfast sausauge thing is something I eat often, and normally don't reap any benefits from.  I get a serving of protein and dairy, but also a heavy dose of fat and grease.  And I also noticed that I feel a little different after downing the morning smoothie - a little more alert and awake, with no midmorning crash.

And there's also a little environmental benefit from prepping your own morning food - you're more likely to use reusable packing, which helps to cut waste.
