For people living near the Washington, DC metro area do not feel left out. We are proud to have the United States Botanical Garden, right here in DC.

According to the article posted by Planet Green, "Of the more than 400,000 species of plants identified by botanists across the globe, approximately 34,000 are threatened. In the U.S. alone, more than 200 of the 20,000 known plant species are gone and another 600 to 700 are in imminent danger. " Botanists hope the botanical gardens will help preserve these lovely plants and educate people of the benefits the plant kingdom provides human society.
